Motivational Speaker
This Substack is part of being able to continue to help people believe in the things that they are hoping to accomplish.
Most of my writing is better with the audio, so I try to talk for 3 minutes max. Thanks for listening.
I did something a while ago called What Color Is Your Parachute? It's a book that was written by Richard Nelson Bolles.
It was a really fun experience because, when I did that book, it helped me understand the value of self awareness and being certain of the things that you're best at *that also* provide value to someone you're doing something for — usually some sort of employment or a project.
It has you compare your likes head to head, meaning you whittle the whole thing down from the many things that you truly enjoy doing, and pit them against one another. So you can figure out, of all of those things that you enjoy doing, which do you like doing *the most* — and that was super valuable for me.
In that process, there were a whole bunch of job titles or career fields that this book has you look into, not only through yourself, but by also asking people you know what things they think you'd be good at. I still have that list, and I bring it up today because part of what made me spark the idea of starting a Substack and getting the help other people win mantra out (into the world) was because of a mastermind group that I'm part of through a workshopper certification I hold.
(As a workshopper, I can help people who are sick of endless meetings or feeling stuck get out of that situation by facilitating workshops that create a clear way forward that is very understandable and accomplishable.)
In that mastermind, a lot of folks have asked me if I had ever considered being a motivational speaker. And the reality is that I have. Not only because it's fun to perform on a stage or talk to a microphone and be in front of a group of people, but also because I believe self awareness is such a key to having long-term success. And I really do enjoy motivating people, which happens to be my eighth favorite skill — that came from What Color Is Your Parachute?
So, this Substack is also part of being able to continue to help people believe in the things that they are hoping to accomplish with their lives - and know that it is possible!
