I know what it is like to feel stuck.
Stuck takes many forms – stuck in an endless loop of meetings; stuck wondering if you’ll ever achieve that vision you have for yourself; stuck not knowing what you’re truly good at; stuck in a job that you dislike.
It just sucks. Being stuck sucks. For me, it hindered my joy about parts of my professional life that were going well, and probably hampered opportunities to be a better teammate for the people around me. It looks like I am not alone. According to a survey by Oracle and Workplace Intelligence, 75% of respondents feel professionally trapped.
Perhaps I can help you, as I’ve been told I’m good at helping others get unstuck. I believe people should have as much happiness in their professional life as they do in their personal life. (And if you’re struggling to find happiness in your personal life…) Because of that, my focus is helping other people win in the areas of knowledge I have: sports, travel, ideas and broadcasting. (Please know, I invite you to reach out as you read ahead should you want to talk about your challenges.)
As a Workshopper Master, I am certified in workshop facilitation to stop the loop of endless meetings and get ideas from concept to a test phase (prototype) so you can discover how well the idea can work. As an ideation co-creator, I provide a co-pilot to get your project the green light to proceed by key decision makers in your organization or in companies with which you want to work.
My top three skills are talking, imagining and creating. As a host and speaker, I am at a stage in my life where, if you have three bullet points you want to convey to an audience, I can set you up with a spotlight for your expertise on stage or in video and audio. I love motivating (favorite skill #9) through small conversations or to groups. One of my favorite stories to illustrate the power of believing anything is possible is how I got into the NFL Draft without a ticket! Happy to tell you some time.
In fact, the trip that involved the draft is why I am a travel advisor. When we returned from an adventure where we planned a visit to seven ballparks in eight days, many people I told about it said they’d love to do something like that – they just don’t know how. Whatever the roadblocks (money, time, worry), I want to create a trip or two a year for fans of games to remember for a lifetime. While working toward that goal, I am thinking, “how can I help people travel more affordably or less stressfully.” After all, I enjoy new projects (skill #7) and researching (#10)
Similarly, I recognize that my experience and comfort level with talking to camera and into a microphone are not the same as everyone. (Although, I didn’t realize that always.) If a roadblock to a business entering the live video or podcast realm is either because they don’t understand the equipment and setup for platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or Twitch and/or have fear or intimidation around the idea of hosting or creating the flow, I can fill in the gaps. My favorite skills of conveying feelings, performing and improvising (favorite skills #4-6) are useful here.
If you’re to this point of the section, I should share favorite skill #7 of mine: sharing credit. I am thrilled when someone provides an amazing contribution to a project, and I can put the spotlight on them. Let’s make you successful with your goals and aspirations so that you can feel unstuck. Self-awareness can play a huge part in that goal, and based on what I’ve learned about myself, I understand I’m much better at explaining things through the spoken word, so please consider scheduling time with me next week. It could be fun!
